São Paulo center is an area located around the historical center and delimited by “minianel viário” (bypass in english), composed by Marginal Tiete and Pinheiros, Salim Farah Maluf, Afonso d'Escragnolle Taunay, Bandeirantes, Juntas Provisórias, Presidente Tancredo Neves, Luís Inácio de Anhaia Melo avenues and the Maria Maluf road complex. This region of the city concentrates the biggest numbers of services, jobs, cultural equipment and leisure, as well as the biggest income, excepting few cases. Maria Maluf road complex is an important range of underground roads in São Paulo city, was inaugurated on July 9, 1994, during the government of Paulo Maluf. It connects Bandeirantes avenue to Tancredo Neves avenue, allowing the connection between Marginal Pinheiros and Via Anchieta.
