Néstor Gambetta avenue tunnel, located in Callao district, metropolitan region of Lima (Peru), was built to enable the enlargement constructions in Jorge Chávez international airport, in a manner that would preserve the original track layout in Nestor Gambetta avenue, main route in region. Compromising road and rail tunnel, with 960m long in buried stretch under the future airport runway and 1140m in entrance and exit access stretches. Projected as a buried, executed in reinforced concrete, has three main cells: two of those designated to the vehicle traffic (with three lanes each one), and a third one, central, designated to rail tracks, total around of 45m width and 10,70 height. Besides, it was foreseen two small lateral designated to users emergency track.
CJC had a multidisciplinary participation in the development of this project during the conceptual and detailed phases, covering geometric design, geotechnics, drainage and firefighting, electronic systems and illumination, ventilation system, waterproofing system and structural systems areas. In addition, was the technical responsible of the project with Provias Nacional, governmental management department, linked to Peru’s transport and communication minister.
